Three ingredients. Patience. And a little skill. Your sourdough journey starts here…
I’ve been making sourdough bread for three years now and it’s become a part of my daily routine. I am completely addicted to the process of combining flour, water and salt and nurturing it into a gut-friendly loaf that’s full of good nutrition for my family. Sourdough is a constant learning process, but making good bread doesn’t need to be complicated or scary. If you want to learn the basic skills to kick off your bread-making journey, I’d love to teach you!
I teach in classes of 2-3 in my home kitchen in Haslemere, Surrey - ensuring you have quality input, lots of hands on experience and leave armed with the skills you need to make great loaves at home.

Starter maintenance
Learn how to create (and maintain) a sourdough starter so it can create beautiful loaves every time. We’ll cover different types of starters, feeding schedules, storage and discard recipe ideas. And you’ll take home 50g of ‘Grace’ - our 2-year old house starter.
-
Folding & shaping
Stretch and fold v coil folds. Boules and batards. Temperatures. Cold proofing. Bulk fermentation times. What does it all mean and how can you use them to build tension in your bread to get a great rise once it hits the oven? We’ll cover all of these things (and more!) so you can start making great bread yourself at home.
-
Baking
Prep a country sourdough loaf with your choice of flours and practice scoring on a ready to go dough. You’ll get a focaccia in the oven too which you can take home and enjoy later that evening! You’ll leave armed with bread, knowledge, an established starter, bread basket, dough scraper and a recipe booklet to kick off your bread journey at home.
TESTIMONIALS
“Lara's course is easy enough for a complete novice and extremely helpful for someone like me who has an understanding of making bread, but needed help and guidance in creating a better, more flavoursome loaf. Lara is a genuinely great teacher who wants to share her knowledge and love of all things sourdough. She breaks down every process into clear and straight forward steps.
I went home laden with bread and was also kindly gifted a bit of Grace to get me started! It was an absolute treat and I thoroughly recommend Lara's course - even if you're not a foodie and don't fancy making your own bread regularly - it's great way to spend a few hours having fun.

Lara is so knowledgeable and gives such a brilliant day baking sourdough, focaccia and scones, we also took away a starter so I can actually now make my own bread. We loved it would highly recommend.
Lucy
My partner and I enjoyed a really memorable and relaxing day learning how to make sourdough bread and focaccia. Lara instantly made us feel at home and we enjoyed a thoroughly indulgent day of chatting and learning, with a delicious lunch thrown in. Subsequent to that, and armed with a jar of Lara‘s starter ‘Grace’ we have both successfully made our first few loaves and focaccias. We are discovering that making your own bread changes your life a little bit because it takes planning and focused time but the rewards for ourselves and our families are countless. Sign up for this course, it will enhance your life.
